QAI has trained thousands of Automotive lead auditors going all the way back to QS9000 days. Our industry experts help you through the critical understanding of what you need to know to be a Lead Auditor but also to help you understand the new QMS from a practitioner's perspective, too.  Most of our customers fit that role: they're actively involved of the management of the system and also participate occasionally as auditor.  With QAI Training you not only meeting industry specific requirements but you'll learn by doing.

About the Course: Learn by doing

This Lead Auditor training course also includes Customer Specific Requirements and how-to audit the Core Tools training.

Every auditor training class has a review of the requirements.  It is, most likely, the least exciting part of any training class that you'll attend, but QAI has a trick up our sleeve for our students because we’ve turned a mundane practice of death by slide show into a learning experience that incorporates the OEM and Core Tools requirements into every single clause and subclause.  That means you get all the facts at once without having to piece it together on your own.

We will show you an easy to learn, easy to use method for breaking down technical documents like the IATF 16949 standard or any other technical document. Our expert instructors will convert the technical document in layman's terms backed by automotive industry experience that suppliers to the auto industry appreciate.

This comprehensive training course includes a complete and thorough review of the automotive industry's IATF 16949-2016 standard with tips and hints for successful auditing and for being a system manager.

OEM Customer Requirements: Meeting customer requirements is a requirement of any 16949 implementation.  We've constructed an auditors' guide and have included a review of the North American OEM Customer Specific Requirements as part of this Lead Auditor course. This section helps auditors become specifically aware of the auditing outcomes expected by the OEM customers.

Core Quality Tools. If making customer requirements a part of the standard without specifically listing the specific requirements within the standard seems crafty to you, consider this: how about the fact that meeting specific requirements of any North American OEM means that a 16949 QMS auditor should be able to process audit a completed PPAP submission?

Our core quality tools module is a training course within a course that will help you to accomplish that goal and more. We do this with a series of learning workshops that help you build the audit trail of inter-relationships that exist between APQP, Control Plans, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA, and the IATF 16949. You'll get an auditor's perspective so that your audits are informed and knowledgeable audits of the interrelationships of the IATF 16949, Customer Requirements, and the Core Quality tools.

Process auditing: The need hasn't changed.  Our workshop activities are designed to help you understand what we have been teaching for years.  We'll build and then strengthen your ability to assess a complete IATF 16949 QMS system and its conformance to the IATF 16949 requirements.  You'll understand the process of inputs-and-outputs from an IATF perspective. You'll review and use industry suggested methods and techniques of COPs, MOPs, SOPs, Turtle Diagrams and other commonly used approaches that have evolved from the use of process auditing.

We'll build your skills so that you'll effectively be able to make transitioning smooth. You'll get the most information possible from your audits to help your company improve and continue to meet requirements.

Our case study activities were designed to dramatize common QMS landmines and showcase the increased need for customer satisfaction, continual improvement and risk mitigation.

Group case studies, with mock auditing, will reinforce learning the process auditing model. The case study helps to familiarize you with the customer-oriented process auditing process that the North American OEM's are pushing registrars to perform at your facilities. Process auditing is taught through a progressive series of fun and interactive mock auditing exercises. You'll leave the class having conducted 3-6 practice audits including a complete facility audit.

Students end the course conducting an assessment of the case study facility and making a recommendation on registration.

Successful completion of training: Students that successfully complete this training will pass a series of competency assessments, evaluations, and examinations that will lead to certification by QAI as a competent auditor.  That means you'll receive more than just an attendance certificate.  You'll receive a certificate of successful completion that shows that you passed testing - you'll want and need that your third-party auditors when they audit.

BTW- This course is not affiliated with the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) auditor accreditation program.

Competency based training
Competency based training is learning by doing.  Not just lecture:  there are hours and hours of hands-on activities and practice activities to help make auditing easier and practical. This help make the training enjoyable, easy to learn, go by quickly, challenging but fun. Students get results that are measurable because competency training is based on your ability to demonstrate that you can effectively perform certain audit tasks.

Multiple examination of competency proving activities take place several times each day. Students receive feedback and guidance in each competency proving examination activity.  The feedback and guidance help make certain that students not only understand the material but are able to apply it in their job.  The multiple examinations help instructors assure that a student understands and grasps the material. Instructors can then provide tailored guidance to help the student understand any gaps that may not have been closed to that point.  Reassessing and re-guiding from an instructor with "real world" experiences helps to improve confidence in abilities, helps in applying the newly learned information, and improves your competence. When students leave this course they already know if they have passed the course – there’s no more waiting for results of a final examination like the old, boot camp days of Lead Auditor training.   Instructors like this format too because they get feedback along the way about how well they are transferring critical knowledge.  It is a blend that works for everyone.

About our instructors:
With energetic, enthusiastic, and experienced internationally certified auditors as instructors, students get more than "slide readers" at all QAI training sessions. In this QAI Lead Auditor course, students get real-world, professional know-how partnered with outstanding training materials.  A handsome, durable, and professionally prepared student book will display well. It will serve nicely as a reference for years to come. Additionally, receiving the support of an ISO9001 registered training company is a great bonus.

About the virtual training:
Virtual training is conducted in the time zone listed.  QAI uses the Cisco Webex Training System. In order for the virtual training to be interactive, like our in-person sessions always were, we use multiple tools to accomplish collaboration and document sharing.  This requires that a student have multiple browser windows open at the same time. There’s no way around this in the virtual world.  For instance, you will review an electronic copy of a process and you will need to complete an electronic form at the same time.  That will require two-windows to be open at the same time. People comment that it should be all on one screen- it is on one screen: yours with multiple windows open. We have yet to find a way around that reality.

Tools you will need, want, or wish you had for virtual training:
Windows 10 operating system
A headset with microphone is STRONGLY Suggested
Dual Monitors is STRONGLY suggested (definitely helps with the multiple browser windows)
Ability to access QAI’s SharePoint folders and sites for the training

After you register for a class:
-Registered students will receive an email from QAI to test their readiness for the virtual training
-Once the student completes the readiness quiz, they will be accepted into the training roster.
-QAI will ship our high-quality student workbook and a copy of the standard to the student two weeks ahead of start date to the address specified in the virtual training readiness quiz.
-The student will receive an invitation to the virtual training event about one-week before start date.
-The training starts at 8a.  Students can join up to the 30-minutes prior to the start time just to ensure there are no connectivity issues.
-Training usually takes place in a quiet area.  Please join from a quiet space (another reason for a headset)
