COURSE OBJECTIVES
  • Learn by doing.  This is a hands-on workshop.
  • To cover the complete cycle of activities for second-and-third party audits. 
  • To learn about what needs to be accomplished in each activity. 
  • To actually do each activity. 
  • Learn how to prepare for different audit types
  • How to conduct second- and third-party audits
  • How to plan process audits
  • How to conduct process audits
  • How to properly document a nonconformity
  • What should be included in a formal audit report
  • Handling audit follow-up activities. 
  • Make effective and competent lead auditors
ABOUT THE COURSE
This training was born because of the pandemic and virtual training.

This training breaks a full week of staring at a screen in a lead auditor training and dissects that training into two manageable chunks of time.  This is part two for students that have completed one of the QAI Champion training courses. 

We also have just a little more time to cover this training material in this 3-day session which provides a little breathing space for everyone involved. 

This training revolves around our online case study example company.  Students will plan a recertification audit.  They will learn about opening meetings including a video of an opening meeting conducted in the perfect amount of time. We progress into how to conduct process audits.  

Then students are immersed into a multi-day, multi-person simulation audit.  Students get lots of practice in our two round robin mock audit activities.  By the end of the simulation students will have participated in six practice audits. 

From the audits, we learn about managing audit activities and records so that nonconformities can be properly written.  The closing meeting occurs.  The final audit report is written.  There are audit follow-up activities to address. Then students take a final exam. 

Students must have the QAI Champion training certificate earned within six months of class date to register for this training.  Coupling the Champion training certificate with this certificate, QAI will issue students that complete this training will receive a Lead Auditor training certificate for QMS, EMS, or OHS, depending on Champion certificates presented to QAI. 

Which brings us full circle to why this class was created:  get trained as a lead auditor without being out of commission for a full week at a time!!

The lead auditor training is comprised of two training modules
Training Module 1 Training Module 2
Champion module QAI Auditing & Audit Team Leader module
  ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or blended OHS-EMS        three-days 8a-4p daily
Students can register for some lead auditor training sessions and receive both trainings in one five-day session
or, register to take the sessions separately without being out-of-commission for a full week at a time. (that's flexibility!)

  • Prerequisite: must have a QAI Champion training certificate earned within six months of planned training date: 
    • People that have recently completed a QAI ISO 9001 Champion training that want to continue the training to become a QMS lead auditor
    • People that have recently completed the QAI IATF 16949 Champion training that want to continue the training to become a QMS lead auditor
    • People that have recently completed a QAI ISO 14001 Champion training that want to continue the training to become a EMS lead auditor
    • People that have recently completed a QAI ISO 45001 Champion training that want to continue the training to become a OHS lead auditor
    • People that have graduated a QAI Lead Auditor training course and that want even more audit only training
